Magoebaskloof is a series of lush green valleys popularly known as ‘The Land of the Silver Mist’ due to the soft mist blanket often covering the valleys. It is this soft mist and good rainfall that creates a thick forest blooming with amazing plant species. Streams, waterfalls, and dams dot the area. During your stay, you will catch glimpses of the lush Afromontane forest, eucalyptus, pine and tea plantations, and avocado, berry, and kiwi farms. Cherry blossoms, Crab Apple trees, Azaleas, African ferns, and Pin Oaks invite you in, and the vibrant colors of Hydrangeas, Camellias, Irises, and Foxgloves that flourish during spring are sure to steal you over. The abundant birdlife comes as no surprise, and guests can spot Green Twinspot, Barratt’s Warbler, White-starred Robin, Lemon Dove, the elusive Narina Trogon, and Half-collared Kingfisher during their stay. Samango monkeys jumping from tree to tree and the cheerful whistling of farm labourers add to the calm garden atmosphere. Guests can expect a good dose of rest for the soul!
